Central Florida RHIO Names InterSystems Vendor of Choice To Provide HealthShare Health Information Exchange Platform

Cambridge, Mass.—January 24, 2007 —InterSystems Corporation today announced that the Central Florida Regional Health Information Organization (CFRHIO) has selected InterSystems as vendor of choice (VOC) to enable its health information exchange initiative. InterSystems’ HealthShare will be the health information exchange platform for cross-organization exchange of clinical data throughout the RHIO.

InterSystems is a leading provider of innovative database and integration software. The InterSystems product line includes the CACHÉ high performance object database, Ensemble rapid integration software, and the HealthShare health information exchange platform. The CFRHIO is a comprehensive network of interoperable clinical, public health and personal health information systems that improves health and health care decision-making by providing access to health information when and where it is needed. CFRHIO is a component of the Florida Healthcare Coalition (FHCC).

The CFRHIO network includes seven healthcare provider organizations covering 44 sites and will serve an in-state patient population of approximately 3.6 million. “Together with the significant tourist population served by Central Florida providers, that number increases to well over ten million patients who will potentially benefit when the CFRHIO is rolled out," according to Trevor Matz, InterSystems Managing Director, Application Integration. “Excellent reliability and scalability will be required for successful implementation of CFRHIO, and HealthShare was architected to meet these needs..”

Proven Track Record, Top-Level Resources

“InterSystems has a solid reputation as a leading technology provider in healthcare and other industry sectors,” said Rick Schooler, who chairs the CFRHIO technology committee. “They offer in-depth knowledge and experience with healthcare technology as well as a corporate culture that’s focused on the highest level of customer support.

“That technology expertise is reflected in InterSystems’ HealthShare,” Schooler continued. “It delivers intuitive navigation on a hybrid, federated architecture that supports a virtual medical record across multiple information resources,” he said. “HealthShare offers the combination of advanced capabilities and ease of use that makes this software the right choice for our organization.”

“The CFRHIO is committed to enabling improved care delivery and patient safety through timely information delivery and fast 24x7 information access in any RHIO location,” said Becky Cherny, President and CEO of FHCC. “We’re confident that the selection of InterSystems as VOC positions the CFRHIO for achieving its goals,” she added.

By delivering pre-built, standards-based services representing the major functional components of an exchange, HealthShare dramatically reduces the time, costs and risk associated with building and operating a health information exchange” said Matz.. “These services are provided on a comprehensive integration platform that facilitates rapid customization and enables incremental addition of services as the exchange evolves. We’re extremely pleased to be working with CFRHIO on this groundbreaking project,” he concluded.
